It was in July 1938 that on the East Coast Mainline route just south of Grantham on Stoke Bank that 'Mallard' was recorder at travelling at travelling at 126mph thus snatching the record from the German railway by a mere 1.5 mph and a record that still stands to this very day. This striking set includes a representation of 'Mallard' as seen in the days just before the record attempt resplendent in the Express locomotive livery of Garter Blue. Accompanying the locomotive are three LNER teak effect coaches with additional coaches available from the RailRoad range. The set also includes a large oval of track with siding and buffer stop.
