Title: Sony a7 Full Frame Interchangeable Lens Camera with SEL-2870 Zoom Lens - Black (24.3MP) 3 inch LCD

Overall Rating

For price and size you'll struggle to beat the Sony A7 in the compact system camera market, and as an early adopter of this new format prices are even better. It was also the first on the scene with a full-frame sensor which may make you find it even more attractive when compared to other full-framed cameras on the market.

Build Quaility

The first thing you notice about the A7 is that, like most CSCs, it's considerably smaller than other full-frame interchangeable lens cameras out there. There's still the bulky grip common among the DSLR and Bridge type cameras and an array of buttons across the top and right of the body. The buttons and dials feel precise and tough, giving you confidence in its quality. There are also a number of customisable buttons which allow you to decide on a few additional short cuts to further improving the user experience.

Value For Money

As one of the first Compact System Cameras the a7 (and its brother the A7R) are widely considered to be good value for money. Offering a premium level of both quality and performance in a new and emerging market.

Style

The Compact System Cameras on the market at present seem to have been styled in one of two ways, either, very modern, almost minimalist or classic, boxy and rather retro. The a7 certainly falls into the latter category with its boxy body and almost prism shaped viewfinder casing it looks very much like a modern version of an old camera. A few subtle colour flashes help to give it that more up-to-date feel while maintaining that classic style. This is likely to be a camera that divides opinion wherever it goes.
